valerio cozzi

I am a landscape designer based near Milan, developing projects at all scales as designer, project manager and consultant for clients and in partnership with other architects and professionals. My works include parks, open air and inner gardens, terraces, green roofs and green walls for residential, educational, corporate and commercial contexts.

After graduating in Architecture at Politecnico di Milano, I earned the Master in Design and Conservation of the Garden and the Landscape ruled by the same Athenaeum in partnership with the Fondazione Minoprio. I am Member of the Milan Board of Architects since 1999 and of the Italian Association of Landscape Architecture (AIAPP) since 2002. Working as designer, project manager and works supervisor for AG&P from 1999 to 2012 allowed me to grow professional experience in the landscape design field at all scales from private gardens to city masterplans. Determined to match people and trees’ needs in each project, I entered the Italian Society of Arboriculture (SIA) and the International Association of Arboriculture (ISA) in 2014 and keep experimenting, studying and writing on the topic.

I’ll never thank enough who first invited me to design a garden in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2009: it’s been a game-changing experience, that introduced me to an amazing land, to a fascinating culture and, most important of all, to truly generous and inspiring people. Since then, I had the chance to develop private gardens and family estate masterplan and landscape projects, expanding my plant species knowledge and experience to such a demanding climate.

Committed to develop my landscape architectural career keeping in contact with research and education, I am creator, coordinator and tutor of experience-lead and technical courses about garden and landscape design at Civica Scuola Arte & Messaggio in Milan and at Fondazione Edmund Mach in Trento.

Believing that landscape culture is a civic value to share, I am member of the Municipal Landscape Committee of Milan, President of the Landscape Committee of Ballabio (Lecco) and appointed environmental advisor of the Building Commission of the Municipalities of San Giorgio su Legnano and Busto Garolfo.
